Description
Masking canopies on model aircraft can be a bit of a nightmare. Even experienced modellers often dread this task. You can try hand painting, you can cut little bits of tape and fit them, or you can buy specially cut masks from overseas. Even these are expensive, and can leave some residue on your canopy that you need to clean up after painting.
Enter Parafilm M! It is a laboratory sealing product which has recently been discovered by modellers in the USA. It is a stretchable slightly waxy film which adheres really well without leaving any residue. Although not designed for this purpose it does the job better than any other product that we are currently aware of.
There is a great short tutorial on how to use the product by JonBius Scale Models that you can view here.
We sell it in pre-cut convenient sizes:
Small - 100mm X 50mm which is enough to do two average WWII fighter canopies or one modern fighter aircraft canopy in 1/48 scale.
Medium - 100mm X 100mm which is enough to do one modern fighter aircraft in 1/32 scale or two WWII fighter canopies in 1/32 scale.
Large - 100mm X 150mm
Extra Large - 100mm x 200mm
These are of course average sizes, please measure your canopy to ensure you are buying enough, bear in mind the product is stretched before application and will be about 15% larger when applied.
*NOT FOR USE WITH LACQUER BASED PAINTS OR ACETONE
